Adam Clayton's brilliant beard is no more after the Huddersfield Town midfielder shaved it off following their 2-0 loss to Leicester on Saturday, but not before raising more than £3,000 for charity.
Clayton had been working on the epic face fluff since November in a bid to make some money for the Huddersfield Town Foundation.
For the final home game of the season the 25-year-old went the extra mile and dyed the beard to match his team's blue and white stripes.
Face off: Adam Clayton shaved off his giant blue and white beard after raising over £3,000 for charity
Celebrated: Clayton's beard was impressive even before he dyed it in Huddersfield Town's home colours
But after the match, he was unrecognisable with just some light stubble as remnants of the effort.
The Terriers have had an indifferent season and are sitting just seven points clear of the relegation places after Saturday's defeat to the Championship leaders. But at the very least Clayton's work will provide a memory worthy of celebration.
It will be a disappointing day though for those behind the Facebook page in his honour, 'Adam Clayton's beard appreciation society', which has almost 1800 likes.
